Walkies with Ruby has been launched for the benefit of dog lovers in Torbay

I’ve started a new project for the benefit of dog lovers in the Torbay area, and named it Walkies with Ruby in honour of my little furry muse.

It’s a free, weekly email newsletter featuring suggestions for dog walks, reviews of dog-friendly cafes, pubs, restaurants and tourist attractions, and whatever else comes to my mind that relates to dogs, the Torbay area, or both, such as Christmas gift ideas or top 10 movies featuring dogs. You can sign up for the newsletter here. The first newsletter will be sent out soon.

There’s a Facebook group so that people who receive the newsletter can talk back to me, and to each other. I was delighted that around 100 people joined the group within a week of its launch, and they’re a very friendly bunch. You can find the group here.

Everyone who signs up for the newsletter by November 20 will be entered into a draw to win a fantastic festive dog mattress from Scruffs, worth £39.99. Anyone who also joins the Facebook group will get a bonus entry.

I decided to start the project because the coronavirus pandemic has meant that many people have been unable to travel as much as they would like, and many have been feeling more isolated and lonely than before. Walkies with Ruby aims to help people appreciate being in Torbay and to connect with others.

When we’re out of lockdown, I’ll arrange meet-ups so that members of the group can socialise in real life, but in the meantime we can get to know each other through the newsletter and by sharing ideas, thoughts and photos on Facebook.

Please sign up for the newsletter and join the Facebook group if you are interested, and encourage other people you know to do the same.
